Feedback by Mr. Halsey
Create a new blog post called 'Blog feedback and learner
response' and copy and paste ALL your feedback below - WWW/EBI/LR. Read your
feedback carefully and discuss any issues with me if something doesn't make
sense. Then, complete the learner response tasks in the blog post below your
feedback.
WWW: This is a mixed picture – you’ve clearly completed
some of the work and appear to have engaged with the questions. Your media
consumption audit reflects well on where you need to improve and the genre work
is solid. I particularly like the questions at the end – you have chosen an interesting
film and answered most of the questions effectively. It’s great that you want
to study Media in future but you’ve got a lot of work to do to get your work in
A Level back on track.
EBI: There are several issues to address here. Firstly,
you are missing key aspects of the work: the ‘reading an image’ and reception
theory work is missing entirely – is it in drafts? On your other blog? These
are two of the most important pieces of work in the first half-term and it’s
very important you complete them and show an understanding of the terminology
and theory. In addition, you’re missing the icon/index/symbol work – again, an
important aspect of terminology and semiotic theory that you need to show an
understanding of and have work to revise for future assessments.
Secondly, your written English is very concerning for A
Level study. I don’t know if this is a blog-based issue or something more
general but the standard of your spelling, punctuation and grammar is not good
enough for A Level. Capital letters, there/their/they’re, sentence structure…
you need to focus on this seriously over the next half-term if you want to
access the higher grades at A Level.
LR: Update your blog to make sure all missing work is
completed. Then, reflect on your work in A Level Media so far. What has gone
wrong – is this a technical blog issue or a lack of organisation? How will you
learn from these mistakes to re-focus your work in Media? What specific skills
or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?
